The starting point for Check's analysis of closed-end funds is to verify the statements made in the offering prospectus including any available reports, sales material, information on the return on investment etc. The focus of our analysis is on the plausibility of the economic statements which we reconstruct by evaluating external and internal sources. We weight the safety and risk components and award a mark of 1 (= very good) to 5 (= poor) for the criteria of safety and return on investment.
